This informative talk is given by the new Dean Simon Chesterman. A Q&A session will be open after the Dean’s talk for visitors to clarify any doubts or just find out more about NUS Law in general.
Professor-Student Seminar (3:30pm, Auditorium, level 3)
Ask questions and have a discussion with a panel composed of both current students and professors. Students and professors are deliberately hand-picked to provide visitors with honest and personal views on what studying in NUS Law is like. With a diverse panel for visitors to direct their questions to, visitors will get an in-depth look into the student life and the academic experience NUS Law has to offer.

Associate Professor Lim Lei Theng
Assoc Prof Lim is currently the Deputy Director of the Legal Writing Programme. She teaches Legal Analysis, Research&Writing I & II, Legal Case Studies and Introduction to Trial Advocacy.
Assistant Professor David Tan
Asst Prof Tan holds a PhD from Melbourne Law School and an LLM from Harvard. He teaches Entertainment Law and Tort Law at NUS. He is also an accomplished fine art fashion photographer.
Associate Professor Alexander Loke
Assoc Prof Loke was a visiting academic at East China University, Columbia University and Vietnam National University and teaches Contract Law, International Corporate Finance and Regulating the Corporation.
Assistant Professor Varottil Umakanth
Asst Prof Umakanth was a corporate attorney in India and was a partner at the law firm of Amarchand Mangaldas He teaches Company Law, Mergers & Acquisitions and Indian Business Law.
Law Club President Kenneth Kong
Kenneth is currently in his second year and is president of the 32nd Law Club Management Committee, the governing student body in NUS Law. He was also a Dean’s Lister in his first year at law school.
Law FOCC’12 Chairperson Zulhafni Zulkeflee
Zul is currently in his first year and is the chairperson of the law faculty Freshman Orientation Central Committee 2012. He is also on the PSC Singapore government scholarship.

Assistant Professor Arif Jamal
Asst Prof Jamal studied politics (BA) and law (LLB) in Canada and was called to the Bar of British Columbia. He teaches Jurisprudence, Introduction to Legal Theory, Comparative Legal Traditions and Law & Religion.
Assistant Professor Goh Yihan
Asst Prof Goh joined the Singapore Legal Service and served at the Supreme Court of Singapore as a Justice’s Law Clerk and concurrently as Senior Justices’ Law Clerk Assistant Registrar. He teaches Contract Law and Tort law.
Professor Michael Hor
Prof Hor worked in the Singapore Legal Service before joining the Faculty, and is currently Chief Editor for the Singapore Journal of Legal Studies. He teaches Administration of Criminal Justice, Criminal Law and Singapore Criminal Law.
Associate Professor Debbie Ong
Assoc Prof Ong was a Court Mediator in the Family Court, and currently serves on the Law Society’s Family Law Practice Committee. She teaches Family Law, Law & Sociology of the Family, Conflict of Laws in Family Issues and Tort law.
Law Club Vice-President Chan Yi Zhang
Yi Zhang is currently in his second year and is vice-president of the 32nd Law Club Management Committee. He is also a member of the NUS Climbing Club, the NUS Law Pro Bono Sub-Club, as well as LSIRC.
Law FOCC’12 Secretary Rachel Soh
Rachel is currently in her first year and is secretary and OGL/Councillor head of the law faculty Freshman Orientation Central Committee. She is also a member of the NUS Law Pro Bono Sub-Club and LSIRC.
Mock Trial (4:30pm, Moot Court)
Organised by NUS Law’s very own Mooting and Debating Club, visitors can have first-hand experience of what it is like in a courtroom as well as witness the ongoings of a mock trial. This year’s topic (coming soon) is interesting and light-hearted, and will definitely serve to entertain visitors and students alike.
Tours (2pm-5:30pm, Eu Tong Sen building)
Beginning at the Reception Booth at Eu Tong Sen building, explore the nooks and crannies of NUS Law’s exclusive Bukit Timah Campus led by friendly and enthusiastic student tour guides. Tour routes will include study areas like classrooms, the Lecture Theatre, the Study Room and the CJ Koh Law Library, as well as areas for relaxation like the Undergraduate Lounge, the Upper Quadrangle and the Summit. Walk the halls of this beautiful campus that Law Students will come to know and love.
Sub-Club Booths (2pm-6pm, Block B level 2 corridor)
Find out about the various student-run sub-clubs which cater to various interests. These sub-clubs are student-initiated, and started off as interest groups. Law Students have the opportunity of joining a variety of sub-clubs which include developing international relations, fighting for criminal justice, contributing to pro bono endeavours, writing about legal issues, writing about school issues, honing mooting and debating skills and simply enjoying the beautiful game of soccer.
